The Hero’s Journey described by Joseph Campbell requires individuals to accept the call to adventure, cross the threshold of the known, find one’s mentors and allies, face foes, go through a transformation, and ultimately confront their dragons. Using film, poetry, self-reflection, and discussion this presentation will give participants the opportunity to explore their lives through Campbell’s framework. In our daily lives, whether intentionally or unintentionally, we accepted the call to many journeys: marriage, parenting, being an elder, going to school, entering a profession, getting divorced, dealing with health issues, enlisting in the military, becoming a caregiver, winning the Lotto! This presentation is designed to give participants inspiration, insight, and confidence as they venture through the stages of Hero’s Journey in their everyday lives, and to awaken their inner hero.
