Definition of Mystic: A mystic is one who senses the Divine Presence.
Definition of Mystical: The belief that direct knowledge of Goddess, spiritual truth, or ultimate reality can be attained through subjective experience.
Definition of Stillness: A mental state of infinite peace, rest, and tranquillity where people’s senses are hushed and they abide in Spirit or The Divine.
How do we nurture and discover the internal Mystical Stillness? There are many answers and each person has their own path. One of the most important answers is practice. As we move away from the sticky energy of the monkey mind, gently inviting it off to the side, we crack open who we really are! As we embrace a daily spiritual practice, the challenge areas and the blocks are softened. As we shift our attention from doing to being, as we move into slower brain frequencies of Theta and Delta, Mystical Stillness and Presence flows.
“Having had the privilege of starting Religious Science, I would wish, will, and desire above all things, that the simplicity and purity of our teaching could never be violated. There is a purpose of simplicity, a consciousness of unity, and a straight-line thinking in our philosophy. This has never appeared before in the world outside of the teachings of people like Jesus and Emerson.” -The Final Sermon By The Sea, by Ernest Holmes
Dancing with and practicing Buddhist Koans are a great tool in inviting forward our internal Mystical Stillness.
No Cold and Heat.
A monk asked Tozan, “How can we escape the cold and heat?” Tozan replied, “Why not go where there is no cold and heat?” “Is there such a place?” the monk asked. Tozan commented, “When cold, be thoroughly cold; when hot, be hot through and through.
Everything is Best.
One day Banzan was walking through a market. He overheard a customer say to the butcher, “Give me the best piece of meat you have.” “Everything in my shop is the best,” replied the butcher. “You can not find any piece of meat that is not the best.” At these words, Banzan was enlightened.
Buddhist Koans invite forward paradox. As we shift into the lower brain frequencies of theta and delta words and thoughts disappear. “This might be called “the place of no words.” As the “place of no words” unfolds and blesses, paradox and possibilities arise.
I invite you to practice dancing the dance of Beauty, Stillness and Mystical Stillness!
