When we think of Listening, we think of Listening to others and things outside of ourselves, and yet one of the most powerful ways to listen is to yourself. It’s that small whisper that you hear when you slow down enough and maybe ask What’s next? What do I do now? It’s come quietly and tells you what’s going to be the best thing to do.
That voice within that knows you so well that it can only guide you to where you are meant to be, the best action to take, or to rest or wait. We can call that small quiet voice many things like our higher self, the divine speaking, our consciousness, our intuition and it’s really our heart opening a little more to help us on our way. Your heart, when allowed to speak, speaks volumes.
Let your heart guide you…. It whispers so listen closely. ~ Walt Disney
It can tell you to call an old friend, and when you do you find out they’ve been through some difficult things and needed your support. Or that voice says to call your mother, not out of obligation or guilt, but because you want to know how she is. After calling, you find out she’s had a bad day and your call was just the thing to cheer her up.
So slow down, get quiet and listen to that subtle voice that speaks so only you can hear.
The purpose of life is to listen- to yourself, to your neighbor, to your world, and to God and when the time comes, to respond in a helpful way as you can find … from within and without. ~Fred Rogers
