Thursday Spiritual Forum.

When all is going well, it is relatively easy for the spiritually-committed person to feel the Sacred within and to bring love and joy into the world. When all is not so harmonious and one is riddled with anxiety and doubt, it is relatively hard to contact the Sacred or feel the flow of grace from inside into the world, and one’s faith can be shaken to the core. It appears inevitable that such periods of darkness will visit everyone, as attested by our experience and by the testimony of all the great spiritual leaders and mystics throughout history. In this presentation, Rev. Bill Selby will lay the neuroscientific grounds for how anxiety can overwhelm one, as the frightened reptilian brain continuously assails the higher consciousness and drowns out the sacred whispering of the soul. He will give us tools and thought patterns to help break the destructiveness of anxious fear, on both a personal level and on the analogous level of spiritual communities. Refreshments and opportunity for interaction with Bill and other attendees will follow the presentation.
