There is widespread religious intolerance or a propensity for misunderstanding other groups of people who hold different beliefs. For as long as we can remember, religious differences have fueled discrimination, violence and war.

Religious intolerance has been encouraged and exploited by governments and special interests to divide people in order to gain power and subvert outcomes, goals more easily acquired when people see the “other” as a threat to their own beliefs.

Is religious intolerance like racial tolerance, gender tolerance…? Do we need to agree with what other people believe, or, as humans, extend them the freedom to believe and act as their religion requests?

Join us in a conscious discussion about this crucial topic at Center for Spiritual Living Boulder Valley.

When: Wednesday June 26, 2019, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Where: Center for Spiritual Living Boulder Valley
107 E. Geneseo St, Lafayette, CO

In preparation for our Religious Diversity and Inclusion discussion, we are requesting that folks take Harvard’s ‘Implicit Associations Test’ (IAT) online. After reading the Preliminary Instructions, click on ‘I wish to proceed’ and choose the Religion IAT. It takes about ten minutes and is very interesting.

** Note that there will be two community dialogues on the topic. They will cover different questions, but it is not necessary to attend both. Please come when you can!

The Spiritually Guided Social Uplift Ministry (SUM) Discussions give us an opportunity to discuss important issues of our times in a thoughtful, respectful way from a standpoint of spiritual principle. It’s a chance for us to open our hearts and minds and listen to and consider viewpoints that may be different from our own. For more information about the SUM program, click here to visit the SUM website. The CSLBV discussions are facilitated by Reverend Jyoti and Practitioner Kelly Robbins and all are welcome. Contact Kelly or Rev. Jyoti if you have questions.
