I’ve spent some time this morning deadheading. You know, cutting off the spent blossoms from the flowering plants. It makes the plants look so much better, and gives them more room for new growth. Deadheading is good for our lives, too – letting go of what’s no longer alive and blooming. Are there things in your life that were once beautiful and added color and fragrance and joy, but are no longer serving you? Old relationships? Old habits that no longer bring vitality? Old relationships? Letting go of what’s no longer working makes room for newness to blossom, bringing fresh energy and enthusiasm. We can clean out basements and closets and cobwebs in our brain, creating room for new inspiration, new experiences, and wonderful new perspectives on life.
The theme for this month is ‘Revealing Wholeness’ and I’m reminded that wholeness requires balance. All work and no play isn’t balance. Wholeness requires taking care of all of the parts of ourselves – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. It also includes remembering and honoring that all those ‘parts’ are not really separate – they work together and depend on each other. The spiritual ‘part’ of us can’t thrive if we’re not getting enough sleep, or working a zillion hours, or are experiencing a great deal of unattended stress, or are feeling like we don’t believe we deserve God’s Good. I encourage each of you to take some quiet time, tune into your inner wisdom, your inner healer, and follow whatever guidance you’re given.
June was a great month at CSL Boulder Valley. Mary and I loved having you at our home for the potluck – such good connections and, of course, such yummy food. And our June Outreach was fantastic, as well. Bridge House Ready to Work program in Boulder serves folks with job and life training, and once folks have a job and have completed their training, which usually takes about a year, they’re supported in moving into their own apartment. We gathered pots & pans, sheets & towels & shower curtains, dishes & glasses & silverware and other household items. The management at Bridge House was very grateful and assured us that our donated items would be greatly appreciated.
As usual, our Outreach project for July is collecting backpacks and school supplies for Precious Child. They do a great job of providing needed school supplies to thousands of kids whose families might not otherwise be able to afford them.
Thanks to ALL of you who participate so enthusiastically in our Outreach projects, and those who show up to volunteer each week at Sister Carmen Food Bank. (More are always welcome, so call me if you’re interested in joining the team.)
Dr. Dream is coming back to CSLBV on Friday, July 27th. If you attended last year, you know you‘ll want to come back. If you didn’t attend last year, you have another opportunity to experience healing through the magic sound of bowls tuned to each chakra, the power of essential oils, and the delight of chocolate. Seating is limited. See elsewhere in the newsletter for information about getting tickets online. You won’t want to miss this!
I’ll be in the office on Thursday afternoons as usual, and other times by appointment. Feel free to call if you’d like to come in to chat or to pray, or if you have ideas or suggestions you’d like to share. Sunday mornings are often so busy that I don’t have as much time as I’d like with each of you!
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday mornings or at our other events! Journey joyfully, knowing that you are blessed and you ARE a blessing! We are so blessed and I am SO grateful.
Journey joyfully!
Love, Reverend Jyoti
